Best 65-inch TVs 2026

Why 65 Inches?

When we think about a 65-inch TV, we’re considering a size that’s perfect for creating a cinematic experience in the comfort of our home. This dimension strikes an ideal balance between being large enough to enjoy action-packed films or sports while still manageable in a typical living room or den. To figure out if it fits well in your space, a good guideline is to sit about 8 to 10 feet away from the screen. This distance allows for an immersive experience without overwhelming your field of vision.

Room Considerations

The layout of our room plays a significant role in the TV selection process. A 65-inch screen is particularly suited for larger rooms or open floor plans. If we have a cozy corner or a master bedroom, it may be best to ensure there is enough wall space to accommodate the width of the TV itself, which usually measures about 57 inches. Moreover, consider how you normally arrange your furniture. Viewing angles should be taken into account; the screen should be positioned so that it can be viewed comfortably from different seating arrangements in the room.

Resolution Matters

When we shop for a 65-inch TV, resolution is a critical aspect. Most contemporary TVs will offer 4K Ultra HD, providing four times the detail of Full HD. This clarity makes a significant difference when watching movies or playing games, especially on larger screens. Considering that more content is available in 4K, this feature ensures we are future-proofing our investment.

Smart Capabilities

In this digital age, having smart features in our TV is almost a necessity. A 65-inch TV equipped with streaming capabilities enables us to access popular platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Disney+ with ease. Features like voice control and compatibility with smart home devices add further convenience, allowing us to navigate content seamlessly without juggling multiple remote controls.

Connectivity Options

The number and type of ports available on the TV can significantly influence our experience. Look for HDMI ports that support HDMI 2.1 for better gaming experiences, as well as USB ports for connecting external storage. Additionally, features like Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity open up possibilities for connecting various devices, ensuring an enhanced entertainment setup.

Understanding LED Technology

LED is the most common type of display technology we encounter today. These TVs use a backlight to illuminate the screen, which results in excellent brightness and vibrant colours. This technology is especially effective for bright, well-lit rooms where reflections can be an issue. However, while LED TVs provide good value, they may not always achieve the deepest blacks compared to their OLED counterparts.

Exploring OLED Technology

If we’re after true colour accuracy and deep blacks, OLED technology is the gold standard. Each pixel can emit its own light, which allows for an incredibly high contrast ratio. This is particularly noticeable during dark scenes in films, where details can pop against a black backdrop. If we often watch movies in dimly lit settings, this feature can make a substantial difference in our viewing experience.

What about QLED?

QLED technology combines the best features of LED with quantum dot technology to enhance brightness and colour accuracy. This is particularly beneficial in rooms with varying light conditions, as QLED is capable of producing bright images that still maintain clarity. If our viewing habits include sports and live events, QLEDs can provide stunning visuals that don’t falter in vibrant scenes.

The Importance of Audio

While we often focus on the picture quality when selecting a TV, sound quality should not be overlooked. Many built-in speakers on TVs, including 65-inch models, can struggle to produce rich audio. As a result, we might consider investing in a soundbar or home theatre system to elevate our viewing experience. This addition can bring depth to our favourite movies, making dialogue clearer and special effects more immersive.

Key Audio Features

Many modern TVs come with features like Dolby Atmos, which can create a more three-dimensional sound experience, enhancing the overall atmosphere of any movie or show we watch. Checking for additional sound enhancement technologies in the specifications can help us choose a model that suits our audio preferences better.

Best Overall Choice

For an all-around experience, we recommend considering a popular 65-inch OLED model that provides excellent colour reproduction and deep blacks. It’s a well-rounded choice for movie buffs and gamers alike, delivering stunning visuals and impressive sound quality.

Best Budget Option

If we are after value for money, a high-quality LED TV can save us some pounds while still offering great picture quality and smart features. It may not have all the advanced tech that high-end models possess, but it will certainly meet the needs of casual viewers.

Best for Gamers

For those who enjoy gaming, a QLED TV with a high refresh rate can truly enhance the experience. These models are designed to handle fast-moving graphics without lag, making them a perfect choice for avid gamers looking for an edge in competitive play.
